Savannah Homes GREEN Page A Green home begins with ENERGY STAR Blue. ENERGY STAR qualified homes are independently verified to meet strict guidelines for energy efficiency set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. ENERGY STAR homes save money on utility bills, provide a more comfortable living environment with better indoor air quality, and help protect the environment. Savannah Homes is a proud participant in the ENERGY STAR program. ENERGY STAR homes are at least 15% more energy efficient than homes that have not qualified for the program. What should homebuyers look for first when purchasing a GREEN home? ENERGY EFFICIENCY Some features to look for when purchasing your home are an efficient home envelope, air distribution, equipment, and appliances. Savannah Homes participates by using the following items in our homes. Effective Insulation – properly installed, climate-appropriate insulation in floors, walls, and attics ensures even temperatures through out the house High Performance Windows – energy efficient windows include a protective coating and improved frame assemblies to help keep heat in during the winter months and out during the summer months. They also block out ultraviolet sunlight. Efficient Heating & Cooling – In addition to using less energy to operate, energy-efficient heating and cooling systems can be quieter, reduce indoor humidity, and improve the overall comfort of the home. Appliances – ENERGY STAR qualified homes may also be equipped with ENERGY STAR products such as refrigerators, dish washers, washing machines, etc. These provide additional energy savings to the owner. Third-Party Verification With the help of independent Home Energy Raters, ENERGY STAR builder partners choose the most appropriate energy-saving features for their homes. Additionally, raters conduct onsite testing and inspections to verify that the homes qualify as ENERGY STAR. To learn more about the ENERGY STAR program CLICK HERE. |
